The World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) is a non profit organisation with members from more than 70 countries, representing well over 200,000 individual tourist guides. The WFTGA has established an international network of professional tourist guides and today is the only global forum for tourist guides and continues to grow with the changes of this industry.
As the WFTGA is a client of Progress International, Grant Holmes spoke with the President Ros Newlands O.B.E. and it was agreed in principle that subject to some standard conditions and a facility inspection, the African Institute of Hospitality could potentially become an African regional center for Training Tourist Guides.
The WFTGA gives the African Institute of Hospitality the possibility to officially train and license Tourist Guides within Ghana to the highest international standards. All efforts at African Institute of Hospitality are working towards this aim, however there is still much to do in order to meet the demands of the WFTGA.
